Tricky Imp has changed dramatically over the years and has been involved with many different projects and subjects but since the covid problem, things have changed.
Tricky Imp is primarily as a small scale publishing company, mainly for the books of author, Peter Gray and are the only publishers of his work. We also publish for other people starting out in the book publishing world based in the Highlands of Scotland.

Alex McGlashen's book, A tale of Crofting is now on sale with the third book A Matter of Survival in production.
The third Book in the Bethran series by Peter Gray is currently under porduction but it is thought that it will not be completed until sometime in 2026. The working title is Lair of the Artorix but this of course could change.
The second book, The Storm Serpents is on sale on this site and contains the long awaited map which can now be also found on Peter's Website.
Peter has confirmed that the first of the Black Thistle adventures will go ahead. It is described as an historical adventure with a swashbuckling style. The first book, The Sword of Culloden is still being worked upon and it is now hoped it could be out late in 2026 or eraly 2027.
The eighth and possibly final Avalon Series book is still being worked upon and it is hoped that it will be ready for Christmas 2025.

This is an excellent read with some very interesting recipes and ideas. It also covers the type of crops and foods the crofters were growing plus some history on the subject.
There are also many fishing community recipes too with modern versions with variants for those with dietary needs.

With the second Bethran book now on sale, Peter Gray has announced the thrird book is in the planning stage. Likely to be called, The Lair of the Artorix it could be out on the shelves in 2026.
Peter has also announced that he is to continue with the Black Thistle stories but as of yet, there is no date for launch.
Number eight of the Avalon Series has now been fleshed out and the manuscript is under way. There is no launch date but Peter has hinted that it could be early in 2026.
